39th Place

by Blessie Rafanan

lovers in a comfortable silence

watching the sun fall below the horizon

in the passenger seat,

listening to our favorite songs

his hair catches in the final rays

secret admiration, turned away

sea-glass eyes hidden by the glare

let me lose myself in you

hold me for a little while

being loved in comfortable silence

as the moon shines above

back seat of your car,

whispered promises

silver rings glisten in the moonlight

silhouette of his face catches my gaze

a warm embrace in the dead of night

our hearts beat as one

hold me as i fall asleep
